J.D. serves as President at Southeast Mortgage. His career in the mortgage banking industry began in 1998 after serving six years as an officer in the U.S. Army. As he was leaving the Army, he planned to stay in the logistics field, and traveled to Atlanta for a final interview — but was convinced by a good friend in the mortgage business to join him and learn the industry. The description of someone who thrives in mortgage sales — a person able to relate to people and sell, with an analytical side attentive to detail — sounded like a perfect fit.
In April of 2010, J.D. joined Southeast Mortgage, where his initial directives were to originate mortgages, start a branch, and develop a sales team. He quickly took on company-level projects to assist in the growth of the entire organization. As President, he grows revenue by leading the sales team and attracting additional referral partners, and maximizes profitability by executing a dynamic capital markets strategy.
Outside the office, J.D. enjoys time with family and friends, and is pursuing a passion for wine — researching, collecting, evaluating, and enjoying it. He is also involved in several charities, two of which he holds dear: Open Hands Overflowing Hearts (OHOH), a nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer, and The Seed Company, a division of Wycliffe Bible Translators that leverages technology and local, in-country leadership to reduce the time and money needed to translate the Bible.
